The band's spokesman: "One-to-one community building, tape trading, is something we've always been about. The idea of a massive one-stop Web site that does not build community is not what we had in mind. Our conclusion has been that it doesn't represent Grateful Dead values."

The Washington Post on FCC Chairman Kevin Martin's comments yesterday about family-friendly viewing and a la carte pricing. A quote from Martin on the first point: "If cable and satellite operators continue to refuse to offer parents more tools such as family-friendly programming packages, basic indecency and profanity restrictions may be a viable alternative that should also be considered."
