Morning Roundup: Reuters' affiliate video network, Slingbox, Google's print ads project

Posted by Hylton Jolliffe

» The Guardian Unlimited's Lloyd Shepherd discusses Reuters new affiliate video network, about which more here: "Smart and interesting. Reuters has announced that it’s going to make video clips available to affiliate websites. Basically, anyone can sign an affiliate deal with Reuters and in return get a web-based player to embed in their site."

» The New York Times profiles the Slingbox: "Just as TiVo and other digital video recorders ushered in the concept of 'time shifting' a few years ago, the Slingbox promises to make "place shifting" a reality for households. By letting consumers connect with their cable or satellite hookups when they travel, Slingbox has the potential to splinter further the way television is watched."

» MediaPost checks in on Google's ongoing experiment with placing print ads, on behalf of its online advertisers, in consumer and business magazines. A google spokesperson: "We're not going to provide any particular product plans, but we are always looking at new ways to extend our reach--and that could include other forms of media."

On a lighter note: Barney and Barney and Miss Beazley Bush, the First Family's scottish terriers, get their own video podcast, reports Alex Williams.
