An article, pointed to by Mark Hamilton, on a discussion hosted by Reuters which pondered whether and how news organizations might compensate citizens for their contributions, i.e. video footage. Says Mark: "I think it’s incumbent on newspapers to treat members of the public fairly when dealing with exclusive content, both in terms of paying and in respecting the continuing rights of members of the public. We can’t expect the person on the street to know the ins-and-outs of copyright and reproduction rights. We shouldn’t expect newspapers to exploit that."

Jay Small on Google's new tips for placing ads on weblogs and "creeping ad-unit disease" in general: "My head hurts when I try to imagine a blog page that provides a respectable customer experience when designed as Google suggests..."
