I went over to Google News and typed in that date just to see what would happen. There are two search display options: Search Archives and Show Timeline. Search Archives shows a whole bunch of entries where that particular date is mentioned. Show Timeline is a bit more precise in how it displays results: it displays the year, with what might be the most popular searches, but it's hard to tell why those particular articles show up first. The timeline then lists subsequent years where that date was displayed.
The results I got for 7/14/94 were a lot of obits, a couple of wedding announcements and the day's legal notices. Interesting that the search didn't display any news headlines for that date.
A sidebar lists links to some local papers, as well as a link to Supreme Court decisions made on that date.
But no headlines.
If I were looking for info on a specific event, though, I'd do a boolean search with the date and a name or something else about that event. That might yield better, more precise results.
